The cast of a new period television show were out and about filming scenes at the streets of London.

Oozing glamour and class, the ladies of BBC2 drama Dancing At the Edge were out in force donning quite a number gorgeous frocks from the era.

Black Swan’s Jane Montgomery is leading the females within the cast list.

And she looked every inch the starlet as she stepped out in character earlier this week.

The 26-year-old, who has also appeared in
Merlin and Entourage, seemed like she’d been picked up straight out of the Thirties
as she stood inside the chilly London streets.

She looked stunning as she wore a brown dress to her ankles,
with period-style hair and an old camera draped round her neck.

And she was joined by The Body Farm’s Wunmi Musaka, who looked ravishing in her flamboyant get-up for the Stephen Poliakoff drama.

The actress donned a velvet floorlength red dress with a bright yellow overcoat and scarf with a period style hat.

The stellar cast, including Merlin’s Anthony Head and Angel Coulby, in addition to the Watchmen’s Matthew Goode, has been busy hitting the streets of London as they shoot the five-part series.

Former Buffy The Vampire Slayer star Head leads the male cast list and appeared relaxed as he donned his period costume outside Whitehall Place earlier this week.

Sporting a pin striped suit, Anthony’s hair was gelled back as he puffed on a cigar, while he teamed the lookup with a patterned tie to slot in with the era.

The remainder of the solid also swinging, quite literally, into things as they prepare to debut the programme next year.

The show will tell the story of black
jazz group the Louis Lester Band as they rise to fame entertaining
guests at exclusive parties inside the capital.

But when the group’s manager, Wesley, makes too many demands from the hotel they’re playing at, he’s deported and the musicians are forced to continue without him.

And after playing for the Prince of Wales, their star shines further because the y’re catapulted to pop fame.

But they soon become embroiled in drama as the storyline of the band’s singer’s suspected murder is uncovered.

The official synopsis reads: ‘Although many recoil on the performance of black musicians in polite
society, town’s more progressive socialites, including members of
the Royal Household, take the band under their wing.

‘But when the band
becomes entangled of their shadowy world, it leads to a suspected
murder. The walls start to close in on Louis and the band.’

The stars appeared to be bonding well as they started filming the series, with Poliakoff making his actors feel secure.

Montgomery was seen donning UGG boots on a break from shooting as she joked around with the director.

Actor Chiwetel Ejiofor went all out as he got into character as a musician, stepping out in fishtail jacket with top hat, cloak and white shirt.

While Matthew Goode looked serious in his full suit while he puffed on a cigarette.

The actress, 53, became the most recent contestant to be voted off Dancing On Ice tonight following a performance to the hit song Poker Face.

However, the Dallas star didn’t appear to upset about her departure and instead prasied everyone for the ‘amazing experience’ she had had.

‘I feel alright,’ she told host Philip Schofield after the judging panel decided to avoid wasting TV presenter Sam Nixon.

She then went directly to tell judge Louie Spence that she wants him to return to L. a..

‘You’re going to be my new BFF,’ she shouted to him as she grabbed the microphone off of Philip.

Charlene did not impress the judges completely earlier on inside the night when she skated with partner Matthew Gonzalez.

The
older star was given her fastest routine to this point with the Gaga song and was feeling mixed emotions towards the routine.

‘Lady Gaga at the moment is iconic, she’s the most important pop star on earth at once,’ Charlene said.

‘This
routine is actually pushing me. I knew once they gave me the
choreography that i would not get it but my goal this week is not to end
up within the skate off.’

Unfortunately her goal was not met and despite trying her best to seem like Gaga, with a blonde wig and a blue sequined outfit, Charlene’s efforts weren’t enough.

She
received a score of 13.5, with head judge Robin Cousins telling her: ‘Great attitude and the split lift was fantastic, but Matt was pushing you around and there’s nothing new technically that you are doing. i admire to observe you but it is not enough instantly.’

Someone else who was told their performance just wasn’t enough was Sam.

The former Pop Idol contestant also found himself within the skate off following his performance to Wham’s Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go.

nervous a few lift that he needed to perform.

‘If i’m able to control my nerves, i am hoping fingers crossed i will do my best,’ he said worryingly during rehearsals.

The pair looked very eighties as they took to the ice with Sam a George Michael-esque wig.

He looked very nervous within the build-as much as the lift but managed to get through it without dropping his partner.

Commenting on his performance, he said: ‘It’s been a difficult day today, the nerves aren’t great but Alex was great.

‘These women are amazing, they’re putting quite a bit trust into idiots like me.’

After
receiving a score if 16.5, Katerina told Sam: ‘To me you are like a
surprise egg, whilst you open you up you never know what you are going to
get.

‘You’re becoming more of a couple skater. The lift was safe and that i liked the entire steps.’

Louie
was a little more critical of Sam’s performance, adding: ‘This week there
was moments when you were in partnership, but then other times you let
your arm drop. You need to up your game a little bit.’

No doubt this is advice that Sam will definitely be taking on board after nearly leaving the competition tonight.

Another contestant who was feeling nervous tonight but found themselves safe for next week was Jennifer Ellison who was up first on the ice dancing with partner Daniel Whiston.

With her blonde hair slicked back and wearing a black suit outfit, Jennifer looked just like Madonna in her heyday as she got ready for performance of hit track Vogue.

Talking about her performance on last week’s show, Jennifer said: ‘I do think it was my best performance, it was the first time I have skated and actually enjoyed myself.’

Preparing for this week’s
performance, she said: ‘The track is Vogue which is one of the most
iconic songs and videos of all time. I’ve got a lot to live up to.’

And
the former Brookside actress even sought the help of professional
choreographer Darren Suarez, who boasted that he has been ‘vogue-ing
since 1989′.

Jennifer looked semi-confident as she took to the ice and ended up scoring 17.

When host Philip Schofield commented on her nerves, she replied: ‘The trouble I have is I feel like Jane when I’m in the training room, then I get on here and my legs turn to jelly.’

But the show’s judges didn’t have bad words to say about her performance.

‘It was, for me, a lovely performance, said Louie Spence.

‘It wasn’t amazing or fantastic, but it as lovely. But I do feel like you’ve got loads more to offer Jen. You’ve got the potential to go all the way.

Another celebrity who seems to have that potential is Sebastian Foucan.

‘Last week was fantastic,’ Sebastian said during rehearsals. ‘I felt like I was really with the audience.

‘I was really happy to win immunity, it’s given me extra confidence.’

The French stars routine was very fast and got faster throughout but he managed it and received a score of 21.5.

Following this, Sebastian told Philip that it helps if you’re not scared of the ice, ‘but you still have to put a lot of work into it,’ he added.

‘You were on fire when you opened the number. You had beautiful arm lines and it got me excited!’

Katarina also had good things to say about his routine, commenting: ‘I am completely in love with your spirit. You are fearless, you have the energy and you are strong out there.’

Next up on the ice was another one of the female celebrities in the form of Heidi Range.

The Sugababe star was dancing to Jessie J’s hit Price Tag with her partner Andrei Lipanov and was feeling very nervous about going it alone at one point.

‘I was so relieved when I got immunity,’ Heidi said. ‘It gave me encouragement to keep pushing myself more. But as soon as Andrei let’s go of me, I just lose it.’

Heidi wore an all-in-one black sheer outfit with black underwear on underneath and managed to skate on her own during the routine which resulted in her receiving her highest score to date of 16.5.

‘That step has given me nightmares all week,’ she told Philip. ‘But I did it so I’m really pleased.’

‘Obviously she’s getting better, it was great performance,’ Christopher added.

Louie also praised the singer after she tackled a skate on her own, telling her: ‘I thought you did a great job. The connection was wonderful, this was simplicity at its best.

‘I really enjoyed it, keep going this way Heidi.’

Following Heidi was actor Andy Whyment and his partner Vicky Ogden.

Dancing to The Proclaimers hit (I’m gonna be) 500 Miles, the pair certainly enjoyed the routine.

‘It’s a great song and the routine is fantastic,’ Andy said ahead of his performance.

‘All week I’ve been busy at Coronation street, so I couldn’t dedicate 100% to dancing on ice.’

Wearing an all black outfit, Andy started by sitting on the ice but made sure that there has been plenty of humour in his skate.

It worked because the judges gave him a score of 17.5 and he even admitted that he had a ‘great time.’

‘You are fun to watch and you had all that confidence skating on your own,’ Robin told him.

Katarina agreed, saying: ‘What I like most is that the two of have got a really nice chemistry.’

Following Andy was Chemmy Alcott who skated to Kylie Minogue’s hit Locomotion with partner Sean Rice.

‘Ive got some big lifts,’ she said nervously in rehearsals. ‘At the back of my mind I do worry as Katarina thinks I cant do it.’

‘I know that she has advised against it but I want to do what the other girls are doing.’

Wearing a red tutu dress and matching head band, the professional skier certainly proved Katarina wrong and performed her lift injury-free.

She received a score of 20, which was her highest so far, and told Philip afterwards: ‘That was fab and I really enjoyed it.’

Robin agreed with her and said: ‘The energy as always was great. Everything is seamless and it was wonderful to watch you.’

Following in Chemmy’s footsteps was actor Matthew Wolfenden and Nina Ulanova.

‘I’ve had a bit of a back problem so I had a few days off the ice,’ Matthew revealed ahead of his performance.

‘I’m more nervous about this week than I have been for the previous weeks as there’s things in there that I can’t do.’

But he needn’t have worried as the panel still gave him a combined score of 23, to which he responded: ‘I don’t feel like I deserved it on that. I was really nervous about tonight and I made a few mistakes but I got through it.’

‘It doesn’t take a lot to love u Matt,’ Louie told him. ‘It was consistent, it was fluid and it was a pleasure to watch. I’m loving you.’

Someone who as feeling a bit more confident was singer Chico.

The dark-haired star skated energetically to the S Club 7 hit Don’t Stop Moving wearing a silver top and black trousers with his partner Jodeyne Higgins.

‘I have to be on top of my game because the standard is so high,’ Chico said before his turn on the rink.

He too received his own personal best of 21.5 and told Philip that he thinks the best motive is to just ‘push yourself.’

‘From the first show you have been solid as a rock,’ Katarina told him.

‘To be so alone out there for quite some time was good and I always love what I see from you.’

However, Robin had some critical advice for Chico, saying: ‘You get ahead of yourself a little. My advice would be to look after yourself a little bit.’

But the show soon went from energetic to uneasy as Rosemary Conley tackled a tricky lift with her partner Mark Hanretty.

The diet and fitness guru admitted that the move in rehearsals had been making her feel dizzy and sick but said she would give it her best shot.

‘It’s really quite a scary lift. I felt so nauseous, I really thought I was going to throw up but it was a close shave.’

Show me your moves: Kelly Brook partakes in a Capoeira session with an instructor on a Brazilian beach

Kelly showed off her fantastic curvy
figure in a floral print bikini, together with her hair tied back right into a ponytail
as she was put through her paces by a Capoeira instructor.

Capoeira
is the standard Brazilian martial art which mixes elements of
dance – as a matter of fact, among the moves were adopted by people that
practice breakdancing.

It was created by descendants of African slaves with Brazilian native influences round the beginning of the 16th century.
