But not all the contestants making their debut on Fashion Star seemed grateful to take delivery of the chance.

Model turned designer Nicholas certainly didn’t do himself any favours when he made a sexist comment towards female mentors Nicole Richie and Jessica Simpson.

Nicole critiqued his collection, which saw a sequence of male models showing off a bizarre combination of leather jackets, rolled up denim shorts and cowboy boots.

And the Australian hopeful wouldn’t stand for it, as he immediately hit back: ‘It’s very hard to grasp the women giving advice about men’s fashion.’

Nicole attempted to sweep off the remark with amusing, although her stony face said all of it.

However the show’s host Elle Macpherson said: ‘That’s so Ozzie chauvinist.’

When it came to Jessica’s time to provide comment, the pregnant star was not pulling any punches.

She said: ‘I’m a bit offended. so much a chunk, actually. To speak all the way down to a lady on this business? We’re running the area without delay.’

At that time Nicole chipped in: ‘Nick, we’re looking to facilitate your .’

Jessica was laughing but appeared furious as she said: ‘i actually type of desire to hit you around the face right away.’

The singer turned designer also took to her Twitter account to voice her feelings.

She wrote while the show was airing: ‘i do know what a buyer wants @nicholasbowes and that i really hope you’re taking everyone’s advice to heart. #FashionStar’

After Nicholas delivered the badly styled collection followed by the badly timed comment, it was unsurprising that he received no bids from buyers wishing to sell his clothes.

When it came to creating the general decision Jessica said: ‘I wish it was just confidence and never arrogance.’

Nicholas landed within the bottom two and was eventually sent home because the show’s premiere episode came to an in depth.
